世界樹・worldtreeを知っていますか？

世界樹（せかいじゅ）とは、天と地、そして地下世界を一本の木で結ぶという、古代から世界各地に伝わる神話の象徴です。

その姿は国や文化によって異なりますが、「世界の中心に立つ巨大な木」というイメージは驚くほど共通しています。

木の枝は天へと伸び、幹は人々が暮らす世界を支え、根は地下や死者の世界へと深く張る――。
つまり世界樹は、異なる世界をつなぐ「宇宙の柱」のような存在として語り継がれてきました。

「天空の城ラピュタ」に登場するラピュタ自身の構造は、世界樹のそれにとてもよく似ていると思えます。
世界樹はどんなものか？イメージするには、一つの例になるかもしれません。

Do You Know the World Tree?

The **World Tree** is a mythical symbol found in cultures around the world, representing a great tree that connects the heavens, the earthly world, and the underworld.

Its form varies from one culture to another, yet the image of a **vast tree standing at the center of the world** is remarkably universal.

Its branches reach toward the heavens, its trunk supports the world in which we live, and its roots extend deep into the earth and the realm of the dead.

In this sense, the World Tree has long been imagined as a kind of **cosmic pillar**, connecting different realms of existence.

The structure of **Laputa itself in *Castle in the Sky*** seems to me to bear a striking resemblance to this idea of the World Tree.

Perhaps Laputa offers one way of imagining what the World Tree might look like.

世界樹・worldtreeをテーマにした作品のコンセプトは。

世界樹・worldtreeは、地球上のすべての植物によって繋がっている…とされる”植物のネットワーク”を指します。
さらに、植物たちの中では、これまでの地球上での出来事がすべて集約・記憶されているとも考えられています。
なので、世界樹にアクセスすることで、地球の叡智に触れることができ、正しい判断や導きを得ることができる…そんなイメージがあるのです。

そこで、さまざまな樹々たちを、HDR_ICM_photographyの手法で撮影することで、
写真ではあり得ない静止と動きを同時に写し取り神秘的なイメージで合成したような画像として定着することができ、世界樹のイメージで作品に仕上げます。

それによって、地球規模での愛情や感謝を感じ取ったり、や人間は生かされてる…という考え方を想起させる。
そんな、狙い・コンセプトを持った作品なのです。

The Concept Behind the World Tree

The **World Tree** refers to an imagined “network of plants,” in which all the plants on Earth are connected to one another.

It is also imagined that, within this vast network of plants, the events that have taken place on Earth throughout its history are somehow gathered and remembered.

In this sense, accessing the World Tree could mean touching the wisdom of the Earth itself — perhaps finding guidance or insight that can help us make the right choices.

This is the image behind my work.

I photograph various trees using my **HDR_ICM_photography** technique. By combining HDR with intentional camera movement, I capture stillness and movement simultaneously — something that would normally be impossible in a photograph.

The resulting images have an almost mystical quality, as if they were somehow composed or transformed beyond ordinary photography. Through this process, I create images inspired by the idea of the World Tree.

My hope is that these works may evoke a sense of **love and gratitude toward the Earth as a whole**, and perhaps remind us that we, as human beings, are not simply living on the Earth — **we are sustained by it.**

That is the intention, and the underlying concept, of this body of work.

作家プロフィール詳細。

takashi ueda（植田孝志、is_shinshin）は、アジア・日本の写真愛好家。現代写真、現代アート、抽象、ICM photography、スナップ、ポートレート、コンセプチャルなどの写真作品の制作をしている。
“is_shinshin”は、イラスト制作の時代からの作品制作時のペンネーム。

長年、グラフィックデザイン、webデザイン業務に従事。
2004年から写真を始める。京都でフォトウォーク、グループ展を行う写真サークルに参加。身の回りのスナップやポートレートを撮影する。
2020年より、地元甲賀市にて、現代写真・現代アートに基づく作品の制作を開始。
2025年、信楽フォトフェスティバルをメンバーで開催・作家として参加。

Detailed Artist Profile

**takasi ueda (is_shinshin)** is a Japanese photographer and visual artist based in Asia, working across contemporary photography, contemporary art, abstraction, ICM photography, street photography, portraiture, and conceptual photography.

“**is_shinshin**” is a pen name that ueda has used for his creative work since his earlier days as an illustrator.

For many years, he worked professionally in graphic design and web design.

He began photography in 2004 and joined a photography community in Kyoto, where members organized photo walks and group exhibitions. During this period, he mainly photographed everyday scenes and portraits.

In 2020, he began creating works based on contemporary photography and contemporary art in his hometown of Koka, Shiga, Japan.

In 2025, he co-organized the **SHIGARAKI PHOTO FESTIVAL 2025/1st** with fellow members and participated in the festival as an exhibiting artist.
