HDR_ICM_photographyとは？
What is HDR_ICM_photography?

世間には、ICM photographyという撮影方法がありますが、これは撮影する際にカメラを振って意図的にブレを作って撮影する方法です。
そのため撮れる写真は、ブレというより画像の流れが美しいイメージとなり、抽象的でアーティスティックなアート作品のような雰囲気を作れる撮影法です。
私は、このICM photographyを少し工夫して撮影することを、数年前からはじめました。
その方法は簡単にいうと、カメラのHDRモードでICM撮影をするというものです。
この撮影法を、HDR ICM photographyと称してその撮影法全般を提唱しています。

HDR_ICM_photographyが撮影できる原理は、”HDR”モードでは一度のシャッターで3枚の画像を連続撮影します。
その時に、カメラを素早く振り回します（ICM撮影）。
これによって、3枚の異なる画像が撮影され、”HDR”撮影によ明暗合成がされます。
結果、本来なら明暗差が少ない一枚の写真が撮れるところですが、実際は3枚の異なる画像が予期しない合成されたような写真が出来上がることになります。
この合成が、Photoshopなどで人間が合成するものとは違って…
・大きく白場が入り込んだり、
・一部にピンが合い、一方で流れていたり、
・100%の濃度の部分と30%程の濃度の部分が同居したり、
・3枚（2枚）の画像が不思議なグラデーションによる合成となったり、
そこんな画像が撮影されるのです。

ここでは、HDR_ICM_photographyの撮影方法について、簡単に説明しておきましょう。

使用機材。

必要な使用機材はカメラのみですが、撮影モードで”HDR”モードがあるもの。
さらに、”HDR”モード撮影の時一回のシャッターで”3枚撮影”するタイプのものです。
この”HDR”モードですが、年代やメーカーやカメラのよって微妙に違うかもしれません。
私が使っているのは、2012年代のコンデジ。

“HDR_ICM_photography”では、撮り方がもっとも工夫できる部分です。
その方法は、
・カメラを被写体に向けて、
・シャッタを押しながら、カメラをブラシたり、大きくスイングしたりする。
・カメラの動かし方を工夫する（回転、大きく、小さく、上向き、横スライド、縦スライド…）
これによって、作品と言える写真を作り出せるかどうかが決まり、又、この時の試行錯誤がより様々なタイプの作品を作り続けることができるか？の境界になります。
“HDR ICM photography”は、可能性を秘めています。

– Point the camera at the subject,
– While pressing the shutter, brush the camera or swing it around.
– Try different ways to move the camera (rotate, move it around, move it up, slide it sideways, slide it vertically…)
This determines whether or not you can create a photograph that can be considered a work of art, and the trial and error you go through will determine whether or not you can continue to create a wider variety of works.

まず簡単に結果が得られる、”HDR ICM photography”撮影をする時の条件をあげておきます。
・曇りよりも晴れなど光の明暗がある方がいい。
・まずは、空をバックにした木の枝を撮ってみて、体験しよう。
・スタート（木）>>>スイング>>>エンド（空）を試してみよう。
・夕暮れの空と街明かりもいい被写体。
とこんな感じです。

もともと私は、スナップでこの方法を使っていましたが、最近では風景を撮影して作品を作っています。
さらに今、私が考えているのは…
・”HDR_ICM_photography”でポートレート。
・フラッシュとの同期。
・前後移動（車でテスト済み）。
・カメラのスイングによって、二人の人を一枚に収める。
・車の窓からの撮影（横移動）。
・カメラ固定、風景が動くパターン（人混みを撮ってコンテスト入選した）。
・風に揺らぐ木の枝やコスモス…。
こんな風に、様々な撮り方がありそうです。

もともと、現代写真の作品制作として思いついた”HDR ICM photography”なので、幾らかのコンセプトや意味づけを考えていました。
まだ、整理はできていないのですが、以下のようなポイントが気になっています。
・撮影画像がコラージュ的になることで、風景が平面的に再構成されるところが、ボケに頼らない・平面構成主体の写真になる。
・撮影画像がコラージュ的になることで、普通の景色が急に抽象的になることがある。
・作為性の回避ができる？
・ICMの流線は、シャッタースピードの一瞬を視覚的に引き伸ばして視認できる？
…など。
こんなことを思っています。

私のHDR × ICM photographyは、単なる撮影技法の融合ではなく、
「光と時間の断片を再構成する現代的なコラージュ」である。
ICM（Intentional Camera Movement）による偶発的なブレは、
視覚の断片を分解し、HDR（High Dynamic Range）がそれらを再び圧縮し、再構成する。

このプロセスの中で、現実の形は一度解体され、光・運動・記憶といった抽象的な要素へと変換される。
それは、異質な素材を貼り合わせて新たな意味を見出すコラージュの行為と同じであり、「写真」という具象的なメディアの中に、抽象的思考を生み出す試みである。

私にとってこの行為は、世界の断片をつなぎ直しながら、自分自身の内側を見つめる“光の対話”である。

“Layering Fragments of Light — A Contemporary Collage through HDR × ICM”

My HDR × ICM photography is not merely a fusion of techniques,
but a contemporary form of collage that reconstructs fragments of light and time.

Through intentional camera movement, ICM breaks visual reality into fragments.
HDR then compresses and reassembles them,
creating unexpected relationships between color, shape, and space.

In this process, the visible world dissolves into abstraction —
a field where light, movement, and memory interact.
This act resembles collage: combining disparate elements to reveal new meanings.
Within the seemingly concrete medium of photography,
I seek an abstract reflection — a dialogue of light and perception.

For me, each image is a quiet conversation with the world,
and a reconstruction of my inner landscape.
